I had the honor of being a part of the social media team for annual conference of the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (SSAWG) held in Mobile, January 14-17, 2015.
I was on site Friday and Saturday, January 16-17. My Friday contributions were mainly via Twitter on Friday, with two photos on Instagram on Friday. On Saturday I split between Twitter and Instagram and also posted to Instagram a few times during the days after the conference.
Here’s a Storify I created using tweets and Instagram posts. In a perfect world, I would write more editorial copy between the tweets and Instagram posts. Maybe I will at some point. But I have big projects to finish over the next 48 hours, before classes resume on Monday.
I tagged my Instagram posts with my personal Instagram user name @Shinecast to indicate which photos I shared via Instagram. One reason for doing this is to help educate the official SSAWG communications team on using Instagram, since SSAWG did not use Instagram prior to the event. Photos that get engagement on Instagram are more artistic and visually-captivating relative to Facebook.
